Welcome to the CPC30511 – Certificate III in Dogging

Funded by the Queensland Government’s Certificate 3 Guarantee Program

Before reading all about the Certificate III in Dogging qualification, please familiarise yourself with the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program to identify whether you are eligible for the funding.

Course Overview

This qualification provides a trade outcome in dogging operations. Training covers safe handling, attaching slings and directing the movement of loads handled by cranes in locations such as manufacturing plants, construction, mine sites and the maritime industry.

Job Roles

Job roles and titles vary across different sectors. The main title is Dogger.

Target

Those who would like to gain employment in the Rigging and Dogging industry or are currently working in the Rigging and Dogging industry and want to formalise their skills and experience.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age 18 years, good command of English Language and basic maths ability

Assessment

Assessment is conducted over the duration of the course using a combination of realistic workplace tasks, knowledge tests and practical observations.

On Successful Completion

CPC30511 – Certificate III in Dogging will be issued.

Course Duration & Delivery Options

Duration is dependent on whether you currently work in the industry and have experience or whether you are new to the Rigging and Dogging industry.

This qualification is delivered in a clustered format which enables participants to only attend the training sessions for the Units of Competency / Licences that they haven’t already acquired from another Registered Training Organisation.

Participants who have worked in the Rigging and Dogging industry and haven’t yet formalised their skills and experience are welcome to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to gain some or all of the units of competency in this qualification. Please ask us how to proceed with RPL.

CPCCCM1012A – Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
CPCCCM1013A – Plan and organise work
CPCCCM1014A – Conduct workplace communication 

Elective units

CPCCCM2010B – Work safely at heights
CPCCCM3001C – Operate elevated platforms
CPCCDO3011A – Perform dogging
CPPCCLRG3001A – License to perform rigging basic level

Before Enrolling in the Dogging qualification, see Certificate III in Rigging.  For the same co-contribution and an additional 5 days in course duration, you can acquire the Certificate III in Rigging which incorporates all of the Rigging licenses up to Intermediate level AND your Dogging licenses.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee, a participant must:

  1. not hold or be already undertaking a Certificate III or higher level qualification (Certificate III qualifications completed at school are not counted)
  2. be 15 years of age or older (for this qualification you must be over 18 years of age)
  3. have finished secondary school or left school
  4. Queensland resident, an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in Queensland, or a New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland

Employment status does not matter and nor is there any minimum education requirement. Note: Eligible individuals must understand that the entitlement under the Certificate 3 Guarantee is for only ONE Government subsidised training place in a funded certificate III qualification. It is very important that you take the time to consider and compare your training options and costs, before signing an enrolment form or committing to a course of study which will use up your entitlement.

Co Contribution Fees

The Co Contribution Fees can be paid either by the participant, by their employer or by another third party. Year 12 graduates who left school in the past 12 months are not required to pay any Co Contribution fee, they can access this training fee-free.

Below are the co contribution fees that are required to be paid by the concessional and non-concessional participants and the funding amount the Queensland Government has provided Train Me RTO for the delivery of this qualification:

Participant Requirements

Wear steel cap boots, a hard hat, safety glasses, long pants and hi visibility shirt/vest. You will also need wet weather gear if required.

All participants must have a USI number to enrol in training.  If you do not yet have one, please visit this website http://www.usi.gov.au to create one.  Click “Create USI”
