Course Overview

This qualification provides a trade outcome in rigging operations. Riggers assemble and install rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel and other heavy objects. Riggers mainly work outdoors on construction sites, but can also work on ships, in factories and mines, and in the entertainment industry in setting up stages, etc.

Job roles and titles vary across different sectors. The main title is Rigger.

Target

Those who would like to gain employment in the Rigging industry or are currently working in the Rigging industry and want to formalise their skills and experience.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age 18 years, good command of English Language and basic maths ability.   You will be required to bring your own hard hat and safety glasses and wear a hi-visibility vest or shirt, long pants and steel cap boots. These items will not be supplied.

Assessment

Assessment is conducted over the duration of the course using a combination of realistic workplace tasks, knowledge tests and practical observations.

On Successful Completion

A qualification for CPC30711 – Certificate III in Rigging will be issued.

Course Duration & Delivery Options

Duration is dependent on whether you currently work in the industry and have experience or whether you are new to the Rigging industry.

This qualification is delivered in a clustered format which enables participants to only attend the training sessions for the Units of Competency / Licences that they haven’t already acquired from another Registered Training Organisation.

Participants who have worked in the Rigging industry and haven’t yet formalised their skills and experience are welcome to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to gain some or all of the units of competency in this qualification. Please ask us how to proceed with RPL.

CPCCCM1015A – Carry out measurements and calculations
CPCCCM2001A – Read and interpret plans and specifications
CPCCLRG3001A – License to perform rigging basic level
CPCCLRG3002A – License to perform rigging intermediate level
CPCCCM1012A – Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
CPCCCM1013A – Plan and organise work
CPCCCM1014A – Conduct workplace communication

CPCCSF3001A – Apply Reinforcement Schedule
CPCCLDG3001A – License to perform dogging
CPCCRI3001A – Perform basic rigging

Delivery Location

Currently delivering in Palmview, QLD, 4553 (Sunshine Coast).  Will be delivering in the Gold coast and Brisbane very soon.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee, a participant must:

Not hold or be already undertaking a Certificate III or higher level qualification (Certificate III qualifications completed at school are not counted

Be 15 years of age or older (for this qualification you must be over 18 years of age

Have finished secondary school or left school

Queensland resident, an Australian Citizen or permanent resident living in Queensland, or a New Zealand citizen permanently residing in Queensland

Employment status does not matter and nor is there any minimum education requirement. Note: Eligible individuals must understand that the entitlement under the Certificate 3 Guarantee is for only ONE Government subsidised training place in a funded certificate III qualification. It is very important that you take the time to consider and compare your training options and costs, before signing an enrolment form or committing to a course of study which will use up your entitlement.

Co Contribution Fees

The Co Contribution Fees can be paid either by the participant, by their employer or by another third party.

Below are the co contribution fees that are required to be paid by the concessional and non-concessional participants and the funding amount the Queensland Government has provided Train Me RTO for the delivery of this qualification:

Participant Requirements

You will be required to wear steel cap boots, a hard hat, safety glasses, long pants and hi visibility shirt/vest. You will also need wet weather gear if required.  These items are not provided as part of the course.
