NSW Health & Safety Representative (HSR) (SafeWork NSW Accredited) Refresher

Course Overview

This refresher course is SafeWork NSW approved covers aspects of the Health & Safety Representative initial training

Under the OHS Act (section 67) all elected HSR’s and deputy HSR’s, after completing an initial course of training, have an entitlement (for each year they hold office) to attend refresher training.

Target

Health & Safety Representatives and Deputy Health & Safety Representatives who have completed the initial 5 day training course.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will refresh knowledge of:

The value of HSR’s to workplace safety
The importance of consultation
Hazards and risk management – how to determine levels of risk and controls
Issue resolution processes
A reminder of the legal framework and the OHS Act 2004
Clarifying what is reasonably practicable
Review of Provisional Improvement Notices
The role of Inspectors

Entry Requirements

Must have completed the initial 5 day training course.

You must provide ORIGINAL evidence that you have completed either the:

5 Day HSR training course
1 day Refresher course

The ORIGINAL certificate must be sighted by the trainer on the day of training, before training commences.

Duration

1 Day

On Completion

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for the SafeWork approved Health & Safety Representative Refresher Training Course.

    All participants enrolled in this course must provide proof of Identification as specified by SafeWork NSW. Proof of Identification documents must be originals and provided to your trainer one week prior to the course commencing. Documents must be issued by a government agency or a financial institution, and contain your name, photo and signature.

    Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.
